Student Opportunities
Community System
Community is the heart of Pedare, and through it students develop a sense of belonging and fosters College and community spirit.
Our communities aim to establish a spirit and identity involving sport and cultural activities, academic results, community service and involvement in many other areas of College life.
At Pedare we have a very unique Community structure which promotes a sense of belonging for all of our students and staff.
Every student belongs to one of our Communities: Brooklyn, Eldergreen, Greenwith, Hillcott and Surrey. These are sentimental names as they are named after the original farms paying tribute to our Golden Grove roots.
From 2024, we have introduced a 6th community, Petworth. The introduction of Petworth enables us to keep the size of each Community at optimal levels to ensure the very best pastoral care for students.
At the Middle and Senior Schools, the Community structure is a core element of our Wellbeing focus. Students enjoy fortnightly gatherings with their Community with a strong focus on building relationships, connecting students across different year levels and classes. They also spend each morning in Home Group time with other members of their Community. Furthermore, opportunities such as Swimming Carnivals, Athletics Carnivals, Cross Country, the Foundation Day ‘PedareDash’, Spring Carnival and other fantastic events across the year connect our students in their Community structure.
Each Community is led by a Community Coordinator who has a key role of proactively supporting students in their day-to-day life at the College. Our Community Coordinators are an amazing support in the journey of a Pedare student’s life from Years 6 right through until Year 12, developing special relationships with the student and their families. Our Community Coordinators work closely with Home Group, Core and Subject teachers ensuring that our students wellbeing is nurtured and also building resilience and strength in our students in moments that may challenge them.
Year 6 and 7 students spend their morning Home Group time in Year Level Home Groups, with their Core Teacher, who teaches them throughout the week for core subjects. This enables them to develop confidence within the Middle School setting, before experiencing the more variety of specialist teachers and mixed Home Groups from Year 8 onwards.
The Year 6 and 7 students are integrated into their Community groups through the fortnightly gatherings and various school events.
Our Year 6 and 7 Coordinators support the students through these years, working closely with the Core teachers, other Subject teachers, and the Community Coordinators.

Wellbeing & The World Beyond School
Pedare Senior School provides students with experiences and challenges to become global citizens who are able to engage with an ever-changing and interconnected world beyond school. Our focus is very much on our students becoming independent learners who take ownership and responsibility for their learning and the goals they hope to achieve.
Our curriculum and pastoral care programmes deliver a wide range of activities that are designed to help our students make informed choices about their future pathways and to develop essential life skills
